The Musicians of New York

Part of my fascination with New York is the presence of talented musicians in subway stations.

Yes listening to talented musicians while travelling must be very interesting. Can't say the young musicians we usually find in Delhi buses are talented. But its interesting to listen to them all the same. And quite hilarious most of the times.

Looks like the people do enjoy their music, right?

Not everyone in NY thinks the musicians are talented - I am sure many find them a hindrance as they are likely to gather a motley crowd around them that obstructs the flow of pedestrian traffic!

I have observed daily commuters sing in the Chennai suburban trains. Also some musicians with a harmonium and that "clap kattai". Personally, like you, I feel that regardless of their being talented, they are always interesting.

Jo,
You are absolutely right - the musicians do seem to be enjoying their own creations.

Nicole thanks for stopping by. I asked their permission for photographing them. For one group of musicians that gave me it's organization's e mail address, I sent a link to my blog posting here. The musicians then took permission from me to publish the same pic in their webpage.
